The Rosebush

Birthdays and beaches

October 19th, 2006

Hello everybody!

I had a really lovely birthday this year, just for a change!  I moved into my new serviced apartment, and I can’t tell you what a relief that has been… to finally be able to have my own place and unpack all my stuff properly, knowing that I’ll be there at least 6 months.  It was a really nice thing to be able to do on my birthday.  I had a really easy shift at work (no teaching, just placement testing last week), and went out for dinner with a load of teachers from work and also Josh, Stacey and their friend/colleague Joe.  It was a really lovely day and it was made even more special by a phone call to my parents.  (Well, and the bunch of roses I received was also a big highlight!! :D)  Lots of lovely pressies and cards and emails from people, so thank you very much for thinking of me and making the effort to get in touch across the miles… it meant a lot :)

Before my birthday, a few friends and I went to Ngwe Saung for a long weekend.  It was absolutely the most unbelievable place I’ve ever seen… total tropical paradise.  It was a life-changing experience in some ways but it will sound a bit stupid if I write about it on here!  However… the pictures from the beach, and also some pictures from ‘George’s Life in Burma’ are now on my photo gallery, so please feel free to have a look and leave comments etc :)  October 2006 - Ngwe Saung 095

I might also be adopting 2 puppies, and pictures will be available soon, but I need help naming one of them!!

Hope everyone is okay…  Enjoy the piccies!

Can you see the fresh wrinkles from there? :)

Yes I know…

It’s been ages since my last post.  Well it’s been a busy few weeks, especially this week, which is the last week of term.

I’ve been staying with another teacher and her husband who kindly offered to put me up while I am ‘between homes’. Today is my last day with them and tomorrow I will finally move into my apartment!! Very exciting, especially as I’ve been buying a few little things to decorate it with.  I can’t wait to be able to unpack my suitcase knowing that I don’t have to move everything again in just a few weeks…

However, the last 2 weeks with Nina and Olaf have been great… both very friendly and kind people who have really made me feel at home.  An extra bonus has been the fact that Nina’s dog had 6 gorgeous little wriggly puppies on Sunday morning and I’ve really enjoyed just watching them and listening to their little squeaks.  If you know me, you probably know I’m a sucker for little furry things so it’s been really cool to watch the little brown sausages wiggling their little bums and crying for Mum.

Tomorrow, we’re off to the beach!  Fingers crossed we get there safely and that it doesn’t piss down with rain.  No typhoons please….
