Holy crap…
…what a week it’s been, and it’s only Tuesday!
I had two completely random invitations to join WAYN (Where Are You Now) from totally different people who don’t know each other, on the same day. I joined, sent invitations to my friends, and my old friend Claire (er, well she’s not old) joined up and sent me a message… Can’t believe she’s got in touch, I’ve been trying to track her down for about 5 years! Very pleased!
Another of my friends is going through some life changes and has begun a long process of repairing a friendship which I had believed was lost or irreparably damaged. I’m looking forward to seeing how that pans out.
I’m now house-hunting again, cos I can no longer justify living in a $700 a month serviced apartment. I’m looking for a nice big house with my friend and this is proving to be a challenge. We have found a nice big house, but unfortunately it is (like most houses in Yangon) in a location where electricity is a challenge.
All of this country has problems with electricity, but particularly in Yangon. At the moment, a lot of houses are without electricity for 8 or 12 hours a day. It’s not romantic, it’s not nice having cold showers, and when the hot season comes (40 degrees C) it’s going to be unbearable to be without fans or air conditioning. (Not that killed the pre-electricity generations, but hey, we’ve become spoilt.)
So I guess the alternative is to look for an apartment, although that’s not as nice, and they do still have problems. We’ll see what turns up.

Annnnnnd who’s Josh?
